摘要

After attending SensorsExpo last month, I am convinced that we are on the brink of a new world. It's a world in which sensors are so widely deployed that the nature of our day-to-day existence is completely changed. It is a world I was envisioning on my trip to work this morning. In this new world, I left my home (after my wardrobe had been automatically selected based on sampling multiple Web weather forecasts) to enter my already idling and unlocked-only-for-me car for a quick trip to the company offices. It's not a daily occurrence anymore, but something I do occasionally for face time with colleagues and visiting dignitaries. Ensconced comfortably in the back seat, I proceeded to listen to my email as the car drove itself by what was currently the most efficient route to the office, stopping only briefly for an automatic "refueling", that is to say recharge, and robotic delivery of the breakfast I'd selected last night.
