SystemC fitted for verification duties

San Jose, Calif. - In a push to establish a new design verification standard, the Open SystemC Initiative last week announced the System C Verification standard, which is based on Cadence Design Systems Inc.'s TestBuilder C/C++ class library. SCV lets users construct high-level test-benches using SystemC, but providers of commercial verification languages contend it doesn't deliver all the features their products do. Cadence said in May that it was donating TestBuilder to the Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI) but continues to offer it on an open-source basis. The new SCV standard contains most, but not all, of TestBuilder.
