Melville, N.Y. - Looking to provide design engineers with a flexible development solution to speed design cycles and lower costs, distributor Nu Horizons Electronics Corp. has rolled out a modular hardware development platform that supports a variety of chip device makers and their suppliers. The initial offering features Xilinx's field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The Engineering Solutions Platform from Nu Horizons consists of a main board that can be custom-configured by adding up to two application-specific development cards. The company said the modular solution, which allows engineers to "develop, prototype, verify and test designs before they are finalized," is different from traditional, standalone solutions, which require design engineers to purchase new boards for each device.
