Router config moves into provisioning, security

Colorado Springs, Colo. ― Intelliden Corp. has entered an agreement with IBM Corp. that will team its popular R-Series tools with IBM's Tivoli NetView software to build out Intelliden's base of router- and switch-configuration management software. Similar pacts involving Hewlett-Packard Co.'s OpenView and the System Management Arts Inc. (Smarts) environments are in the works, the company said. Intelliden said its expanded software will include tools for auditing networks, managing security functions and managing the provisioning of network services. Version 3.0 of the R-Series software, released earlier this month, has been recast into "four pillars" of applications: auditing and reporting, configuration and control, provisioning and activation, and security management. Chief executive officer Dale Hecht said Intelliden promotes its configuration and auditing features to a carrier or enterprise customer and then touts additional pillar features as network awareness expands.
