Chartered kicks off 65-nm node

Austin, Texas — Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. has started offering Spice models and other design deliverables for its 65-nanometer process, with an early emphasis on low-power applications. The Singapore foundry expects pilot production of 65-nm-generation devices to begin in early 2006. To pave the way, it is offering a design kit now and will move multiproject wafers through its 300-mm Fab 7 in the fourth quarter, said John Martin, a Chartered vice president.
