CCD image sensor delivers smaller pixels, faster frames

Eastman Kodak Co. is claiming an advancement in charge-coupled device image sensor technology. The eighth-generation Interline Transfer CCD platform will be the basis for a portfolio of image sensors targeted at industrial and scientific imaging markets.The technology reduces pixel size by almost 50 percent, doubles the maximum frame rate available from the image sensor and provides a significant increase in image quality compared with the previous generation, according to Kodak.
