The battle over U.S. digital TV patents could erupt into a full-fledged war, with Samsung Electronics Co. having become the second company to level DTV patent infringement allegations against Polaroid Corp. and its corporate parents. The South Korean consumer electronics giant filed suit earlier this month related to technology that is part of the U.S. terrestrial DTV standard developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC). Zenith Electronics LLC likewise has a suit pending against Polaroid and its owners, Petters Group Worldwide LLC and Westing-house Digital Electronics LLC.
