In high school, I was always confused in chemistry class. Give me physics and biology, and I could stay up all night. But give me a string of chemical formulas, and my eyes glazed over and my brain began to hurt. Snooze time. My natural interests quickly defined my career. Pretty soon, I was in electrical engineering school studying all sorts of real-world, physical and electrical phenomenon. The closest I ever came to chemistry was studying the basics of battery operation. And even that I quickly forgot as I wrestled with more impacting topics, such as circuit theory and Boolean logic. Chemistry was left in the dust. Or so I thought.
