IBM, Microsoft Push 'Sea Change' With Web Services

The announcement by IBM, Microsoft and other leading vendors of a new organization to promote interoperability among different brands of Web services is nothing short of "sea change" in the software industry, an analyst says. The vendors have formed the Web Services Interoperability Organization (www.ws-i.org), whose intent is to provide a means of certifying the interoperability of software as well as supporting existing standards that support and enhance the ability of software to inter-operate.
