The theme of this special issue of Electronic Commerce Research and Applications is "Electronic Auctions: Strategies and Methods." This special issue is the second in a series on electronic auctions; the first issue appeared in the March-April 2010 issue. The authors have made new contributions of knowledge that advance the theory of online auctions and our understanding of the different applications of auction mechanisms.
