摘要

This paper presents a theoretical study about the use of a linear induction machine for kinetic energy recovery. A study case based on diesel-electric train is focused on the braking process. The presented linear induction machine model takes into account the longitudinal end effect, which is the main difference between linear and rotating induction machines. The train model includes railroad grade and curvature, type of train, total mass, friction and aerodynamic effects. The behaviour of several electrical and mechanical quantities is presented and analyzed.
