Promising electric power supply systems for dust-catching electrostatic precipitators at thermal power stations

By developing special high-voltage electronic switching tubes a power sup- ply system has been constructed at the VEI Institute, which periodically changes the polarity of the voltage on the electrodes of an electrostatic pre- cipitator. This type of power supply (an alternating-sign power supply) enables one to increase the efficiency of dust clearance and the operating re- liability of the electrostatic precipitator due to the fact that mechanical sha- king of the precipitator electrodes is not required.
