Wartsila to manufacture pitch propellers for wind turbines in India

Wartsila, one of the first Finnish power companies to enter the Indian market, has decided to manufacture controllable pitch propellers for wind turbines in India. The company, which has delivered more than 250 power plants to India with a total output of almost 3,000 MW, is scheduled to complete the new controllable pitch propeller project by the end of 2008. "Having controllable pitch propeller manufacturing capacity in India will benefit Indian customers, as well as the rest of Asia, and European countries. Customers will now have access to integrated propeller and gear packages from one single source, and these manufacturing facilities will also serve the whole group through component sourcing," Jari Salo, Wartsila's Vice-President -Propulsion, told a group of visitorsrnin Helsinki -Finland.
