Rotating machine insulation systems begin to undergo a natural ageing as soon as they are put up into service, process of which is accelerated by high additional varying machine loads, e.g. frictional and pressure loads due to heat expansion. Measurements on high-voltage windings are an essential part of preventive maintenance for ensuring adequate security of supplies to networks and of high-voltage motors in application.
