摘要

In this paper, stability improvement of a distribution system connected with WTIGs by applying shunt FACTS devices in voltage regulation mode is analyzed. It prevents large deviations of bus voltage magnitude induced by variable WTIGs. Thus, the large amount of wind power can be penetrated in to the grid without affecting the system stability by controlling reactive power flow in the grid using FACTS devices. This analysis can be done by using the shunt FACTS devices in VAR control mode and the operation of the FACTS devices under the two operating modes can be compared. By studying optimal location and tuning of FACTS devices, the cost of devices can be justified.
