Butterfly: Baptism of Fire

After two years of continuous service in gas separation, Samson Pfeiffer took a new PSA butterfly back for checks. The valve, in operation with a phar-ma company, was removed and dismantled and examined by Pfeiffer Chemiearmaturenbau. The heavy-duty design of the 14p Typ PSA series, used with a BR31a drive, got very good marks. There was no leakage, whether internally or to the atmosphere, despite frequent switching and fast opening / closing operations, the manufacturer says. A special feature: this is not a manufacturer subjecting his product to an endurance test, but an external user working with the valve over a prolonged period. On the basis of the results, Samson Pfeiffer has now formulated a maintenance recommendation. This states that maintenance is due after five years or after 500,000 switching.
