Silicon Image has been advocating digital interfaces between systems and their displays for almost half a decade now. The company's quest for success took on added momentum at February's Intel Developer Forum (IDF) when the Digital Display Working Group (www.ddwg.com) endorsed Silicon Image's transition-minimized differential-signaling (TMDS) interface. Six months later, at the recent fall IDF, digital-visual-interface (DVI)-equipped monitors were everywhere—not only on flat-panel displays, but also on CRTs.
