Environment speeds platform design

Mentor Graphics' new development environment enables design teams to build and configure a platform core and its corresponding peripherals and software in a virtual prototype. Bucking Mentor Graphics' trend toward compartmentalizing products strictly by operating divisions, Platform Express integrates products from various divisions to pravide a design tool that allows designers to efficiently aggregate various IP (intellectual-property) blocks. Although Mentor will make Platform Express available free through its silicon partners, users must employ Mentor's ModelSim simulators, Xray debugging tools, Inven-tra semiconductor IP, Seamless co-verification tool, and consulting services to use Platform Express.
