We certainly haven't yet reached "The Year of Bluetooth," but this fledging technology is quickly growing up. With projected shipments of 100 million chip sets this year, and double that next year, Bluetooth is beginning to bring revenue to the multitude of companies that have been hoping to bring into reality (Figure 1). Mobile phones will clearly drive this market to start, but computing devices, such as PCs and PDAs, are expected to provide Bluetooth's foothold in the world of embedded systems.
