Ultracapacitors as a Secondary Power Source for HEV Systems

To address the limitations posed by battery systems, ISE Corporation investigated the use of ultracapaci-tors as the secondary power source. Ultracapacitors are compact in size with higher energy densities than conventional capacitors and higher power densities than batteries. ISE Corporation selected Maxwell Technologies, offering BOOSTCAP™ technology, as their ultracapacitor supplier.
