Jobs Increase for Residential Construction in July

According to the latest report from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), construction employment increased by a net 20,000 jobs in July. However, these gains were not seen equally across the industry. Employment in infrastructure and nonresidential building construction actually dropped 4,000 jobs, while residential building and specialty trade construction firms added 24,000 jobs. (Residential building and specialty trade construction firms concentrate on residential new construction, additions and renovations.) Association officials cautioned that nonhousing construction job losses will continue unless the federal government provides infrastructure funding for state and local budgets, enacts liability reforms and introduces other relief measures.
