Analyzing cyber security

The security of the power and en-ergy industry's IT and control networks is a serious issue which continues to see increased attention. With deregulation came a marriage between these two networks for better and for worse. Such interconnectivity also meant that new cyber threats would be introduced, a concern that control centers had not previously dealt with. Symantec has followed the attack patterns within the industry recently and now releases a report every six months that analyzes the attack trends. Most recently, Symantec analyzed the attack activity in the power and energy industry between January 1, 2004 and June 30, 2004.
