Today, with pay-increase budgets diminishing and health care costs climbing, utilities face increased pressure to enhance their compensation packages without affecting bottom lines.rnCompounding these issues, baby boomers' impending retirements will leave the industry with a skilled worker shortage. Prior to the recession, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projected the total number of utilities jobs would fall 5.7 percent, or 31,000, between 2006 and 2016.
