The ghost of Roh Moo-hyun is haunting South Korea. The former president committed suicide in May while under investigation for graft. His death has widened the split between the country's "progressive" forces that he represented and the conservative ones led by President Lee Myung-bak. Mr Roh's backers set up a shrine to him across from Seoul's city hall, a traditional gathering place for protesters. The makeshift altar was promptly surrounded by a ring of police buses and later destroyed by conservative groups. Earlier this year, there was a series of violent clashes between the two sides inside the National Assembly.
