Charlemagne concluded that the Scottish whisky industry is opposed to both Scottish independence and a British exit from the European Union (February 23rd). Although I have no doubt that whisky producers are concerned about the prospects of a British referendum on leav- ing the eu, they have, privately and publicly, indicated a position of neutrality on the question of Scottish independence.
