As of 30 May 2010, the IIOA member's database counted 475 persons, comprising private members, representatives nominated by institutional members, and also current applicants for new membership. This represents a drop in the total count by 38 persons from 513 in April 2009, which is, however, misleading. The reason for the decrease lies in the applicant's data: while in April 2009 there were 56 applicants recorded in the member database, by the end of May 2010 there were just 13.
