Sunshine Coast beaches and mangrove oil spill recovery project - Sunshine Coast Regional Council

The Moreton Bay oil spill impacted significantly on the coastal ecosystems of the Sunshine Coast, with the oil slick spreading over half of the length of the coastline. The oil spill highlighted the need for greater knowledge of coastal processes, biodiversity and ecological function. The response to the oil spill also demonstrated the importance of emergency preparedness and the enormous volunteer capacity within the Sunshine Coast community.
