Journal citation maps in the field of life sciences by two-step model

By using the journal citation mapping that was developed by F. Narin in 1972, 10 fields of life sciences that were multidisciplinary sciences, biology, physiology, bio- chemistry & molecularbiology, immunology, oncology, general & internal medicine, cardiac & cardiovascular systems, neurosciences, and psychiatry were analyzed. Based on the 1997 Jour- nal Citation Reports (Philadelphia, ISI), we tried to illustrate maps of the two-step model, in which both the first and second most frequencly cited journals were specified.
