We propose a method for prior arts search by online retrieval to revoke pat- ents characterized by numerical limitations. First, we studied how such type of patents were re- voked in Japan and found that there are many cases in the "the effect" described in cited prior arts is the same as "the effect of the invention" of the revoked patent. Next, We examined whether search focusing "the effect of the invention" is an effective method or not.
