What's Right with Macroeconomics?

This book is a compilation of papers presented at a Cournot Centre conference, held in December 2010. After an introduction by the editors, there are seven contributed papers plus a round-table discussion. The chapters are roughly evenly split between those arguing for a modification to existing models and methods (specifically New Keynesian DSGE models), and those arguing for their replacement by various alternatives. Although this characterization is not always clear-cut, I would put the contributors into these "teams" as follows: 1. Team modify: Volker Wieland (Model comparison and robustness: A proposal for policy analysis after the financial crisis), Paul De Grauwe (Booms and busts: New Keynesian and behavioral explanations), Giancarolo Corsetti (The "hoc" of international macroeconomics after the crisis), and Wendy Carlin (Panel discussion). 2. Team replace: Xavier Timbeau (The fireman and the architect), Jean-Bernard Chatelain (Try again, macroeconomists), Xavier Ragot (The economics of the laboratory mouse: Where do we go from here?), Giovanni Dosi and coauthors1 (Economic policies with endogenous innovation and Keynesian demand management), and Robert Gordon (Panel discussion).
