Spot rates surged for the second consecutive month. The voyage rate for a 147,000 cbm LNG vessel was estimated at $37,500pd, up 15% over the previous month. The increase in the spot charter rates is mainly due to an increase in the demand for spot cargoes. Short-term freight rates are expected to increase further as the winter season is likely to boost demand for natural gas.
