While a numbers of analysts in the West are pondering the container trade implications of the US decision to backslide from planned free-trade agreements, trading partners elsewhere are simply getting on with doing business with one another, and at a very brisk pace. Container traffic surged ahead in the first quarter by an estimated 10% thanks in large part to a rapid escalation in intraregional volumes, particularly within Asia.
