The rising momentum in spot rates for small coasters (1,000-5,000 cbm) has been halted as the market has come under pressure. The rates had been rising since the beginning of 2017 on account of strong butane trade. However, demand for butane weakened in May because of the end of winter, and as a result only a few cargoes were quoted in Northwest Europe.
