FREIGHT RATES FACE BIG CHALLENGES IN 2018

Our Chemical Freight Index declinedrnslightly in April. Although freight rates onrnTransatlantic routes firmed up during thernmonth, freight rates on Transpacific routesrndropped drastically by 8-14% on monthlyrnbasis. Considering the negative impactrnof the US-China trade war and antidumpingrnduties in China (products includernEDC, styrene, acrylonitrile and lube oil),rnfreight rates on this route are facing hugernchallenges in 2018.
