Southampton joins elite port group

The final piece of a complex assembly of licences, consents, and approvals will allow Associated British Ports' Port of Southampton to handle Maersk's 400m-long, 18,000teu Triple E class container ships - one of very few ports globally capable of doing so. ABP has received UK Marine Management Organisation consent for a main access channel dredging campaign that will remove about 12M m3 of material and complete the port's ￡150M (S232M) redevelopment jigsaw.
