Waertsilae Yuchai Engine Co, a joint venture between Waertsilae and Yuchai Marine Power, has inaugurated a new 266,700m~2 marine engine factory in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China, Tony Slinn reports. The new factory will assemble and test Waertsilae 20,26, and 32 medium-speed engines - assembly lines and test beds are already in partial operation - and is scheduled to be in full production before the end of 2016. "The three engines are all well-established and known for their reliability, fuel efficiency and low levels of exhaust emissions," a Wartsila spokesman commented. "They are also fully optimised for today's flexible manufacturing methods, and are fully compliant with IMO Tier Ⅱ exhaust emission regulations".
