Remi Perret preaches the alchemy of recycling, which for him is more a way of life than just a creative tool. With a hint of irony, he describes himself as a "gleaner" (someone who collects leftover crops after fields have been harvested) and an "antique hunter". So while the city provides him with an enormous game reserve for tracking down raw material to use in his creations (broken and crooked waste objects), the super-production of objects and excessive consumption typical of contemporary society become crucial elements in a unique creative process and a heterogeneous production of furniture, installations and collage. According to Perret, his work in his Paris-based atelier-workshop BuroZero isn't about design, but rather the creation of unique, sculptural and poetic pieces. Such as the recent series of "mutant furniture": discarded objects and materials that Perret retrieved from the roadside and then re-assembled, enjoying the process of mixing different materials and forms. Following on from his success at the last edition of Maison & Objet, his mutant furniture will be on show in the collective "Superminimum" exhibition in the Paris space Hub 10, along with work by two other French studios, Est-ce ainsi and Studio Lo.
