It is an important lunch, of the kind that can prove to be crucial. In some Italian companies, the storyboard of negotiations between entrepreneur and architect (or designer) still falls back on a reassuring script, which is traditionally played out at the table. "Our guys" are sitting down waiting for the menu. One leans forward, straining his eyes and trying to gain confirmation of the good ideas he senses are on the way. He won't draw any conclusions until after the meal, when he retires to his office and smokes a cigar. The other man twirls the circular base of his glass, almost as if consulting a wheel of fortune for encouragement, seeking confirmation that this is the right moment to make his proposal. His hand then caresses the prongs of the fork, slides down to the handle and flips it over, constructing a mental picture of the object's dimensions. As he feels its curves and runs his fingers along the contours, he cannot contain himself: "Wait a minute, this is not the same fork I have at home!"
