Per avere un quadro completo e fedele della storia del design del Novecento in Italia, bisogna andare oltre gli stereotipi che ne hanno dominato la letteratura specifica: da una parte, gli acclamati (e con ragione) maestri e pionieri e, dall'altra, l'enfasi eccessiva sul disegno industriale. Sono poche le pubblicazioni che fanno un vero e proprio stato dell'arte in materia e mettono in luce le tante peculiarità che contraddistinguono la storia italiana da quella degli altri Paesi.%To ascertain a comprehensive and true picture of Italy's 20th-century design history one needs to look beyond the stereotypes that have dominated Italian design history writing for too long-its highly (and righteously) acclaimed pioneers and masters on one hand and an overrated emphasis on industrial design on the other. Few are the publications that illustrate the real state of things and highlight the many particularities which differentiate Italian design history from those of other countries.
