Alfredo Jaar

With his site-specific installation for the Chile Pavilion, Jaar issues a poetic invitation to rethink the whole model of the Biennale exhibition, and pays tribute to the regenerative power of art. A native of Chile who moved to New York thirty years ago, he does not define himself or his work through geographical belonging. Indeed, his piece Venice Venice contains no element or reference to the country of Chile.
