Nannucci was born in 1939 in Florence. For decades now, he has been one of Italy's major artists. Since the mid-1970s he has been exploring the complexities of relations between art, language and imagery by using the different expressive media of neon lettering, photography, video, sound, editorial projects and artistic books. His interest is the connection between artwork, architecture and urban landscape. He creates the prerequisites for integration between landscape, language, colour and light - the central elements of his work. In the 1990s he collaborated on projects with Renzo Piano, Massimiliano Fuksas, Mario Botta, Nicholas Grimshaw and Stephan Braunfeis. Nannucci has participated in the Venice Biennale, Kassel Documenta, and the Biennials of Sao Paulo, Sidney and Istanbul. Exhibitions of his work have been held at the most important museums and galleries in the world.
