Materials and finishes play an increasingly central role in contemporary architectural design. An eloquent example is the sophisticated design for the refurbishment of the Japanese and Chinese restaurant Sushi Zero, completed close to the lakeside at Varese by architects Nicola Bottom and Elisabetta Puviani. The decision to introduce interior finishes supplied by Ceramiche Keope has characterised the design from an aesthetic point of view. Designed like a garden, the restaurant setting revolves around a large central pool.
