Comparative Assessment of the Estrogen Receptor β Expression in the Tissues of Non- Small Cell Lung Carcinoma and Lung Metastases of Tumors of Other Primary Localizations

Non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) is one of the most severe cancers with adverse outcome; the results of its treatment cannot be regarded as satisfactory. Therefore, the search for pathogenetically grounded and patient-centered approaches to the treatment of NSCLC is undoubtedly one of the top priorities. In our opinion, discovery of a new class of receptors, estrogen receptors β (ERP), created the preconditions for the development of a new treatment strategy for NSCLC, namely anti-estrogen therapy.ERβ were opened in 1996 and now attract close attention of oncologists. Unlike "classical" receptors (now called ERa), ERP have been detected not only in the breast cancer tissue, but also in solid tumors of various localizations.
