摘要

It's not just the British who have a pre-occupation with the weather. When you're living in a climate where the thermometer registers at least 40 degrees C (104 F) for more than six months of the year, discussing the heat (and if it really can get any hotter!) is on everyone's daily agenda. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), situated on the edge of the Arabian Gulf, residents never tire of remarking on the weather and, more importantly, how to keep cool. In 2001, District Energy highlighted how Tabreed (The National Central Cooling Co. PJSC) was pioneering the concept of district cooling in the Middle East. Cooling has always been a focal point of life in the Gulf, and district cooling, which follows many of the same principles of the ancient wind towers still found in traditional homes across the region, had already started to capture the attention of many of the most forward-thinking landlords and developers.
