Energy Center, Waste Burner Interconnect in Minneapolis

NRG Energy Center Minneapolis and Hennepin County have teamed up on a joint venture constructing a 1,600-ft stretch of steam pipeline connecting the downtown district energy system to the county-owned waste-to-energy plant, the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center (HERC). The pipeline is able to accommodate 250 psig of steam pressure at a capacity of 100,000 Ib/hr that can be shared in either direction, as needed. Hennepin County officials were scheduled to commission the steam line at an April 27 ceremony.
