UK Government Urges District Heatinq Focus

As reported Feb. 20 by the Planning-Resource Web site, the government of the United Kingdom wants local councils to make use of planning guidance on climate change to encourage new developments to connect to existing district heating networks. This keeps with the government's Planning Policy Statement 1 (PPS1) on planning and climate change, which encourages co-location of heat supply with demand. Local authorities are encouraged to specify that industrial plants offering potential waste heat can only be built near areas that have high demand for heat.
