Geothermal Heating Developed in China

Geysir Green Energy is developing the Xianyang Geothermal District Heating project in Shaanxi Province, China. The system has replaced coal-burning facilities and been installed in new developments that would otherwise have used coal. The project's first phase was completed in 2006 and is expected to become the largest geothermal district heating system in the world when it expands to serve 15 million sq m (161.5 million sq ft) by 2015.
