摘要

It is emphasized that polyethylene prepared from the melt is a natural nano-dielectric having contrasting conductive crystallites and resistive amorphous regions of nanometric dimensions. The conductive properties when extrinsic holes are introduced are briefly explored. It is predicted that long-range quantum mechanical tunneling through the amorphous regions occurs and is responsible for a field-dependent hole mobility and consequent packet phenomena. It is predicted that nano particles can be naturally accommodated in the amorphous regions and can severely change hole tunneling with a consequent dramatic reduction in the conductivity and related spacecharge phenomena in agreement with published experiments.
