To study the effects of a glucosamine infusion on skele- tal muscle metabolism, microdialysis was performed in the medial femoral muscle in Sprague-Dawley rats dur- ing a euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp (insulin infu- sion 18 mU. Kg~-1. Min~-1). During steady-state clamping conditions (70 min), an infusion of glucosamine (30 μmol. Kg~-1. Min~-1) or saline was given for 240 min.
