HIDNA: national partnerships supporting international partnerships

Tim Mackay presents the case of HIDNA (the HIV/AIDS and International Development Network of Australia) as an example of how national community organizations working in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the North can also promote international partnership. The HIV/AIDS and International Development Network of Australia (HIDNA) was established in July 1992 as 'an informal association of Australian non-government groups working in cooperation with agencies in countries that receive development assistance to minimize the spread and impact of HIV infection'. Government agencies involved in Australia's HIV/AIDS development co-operation activities attend HIDNA meetings as permanent observers with speaking rights.
